Pasar Agung Temple


Pasar Agung Temple in Bali are located in Sibetan, Selat, Buda Keling, and Kubu Village. Pasar Agung Temple  are as a flank of Mount Agung, the highest mountain in Bali. Pasar Agung Temple in Sibetan is located in Yeh Kori hamlet, Jungutan village,  Bebandem subdistrict, Karangasem,  however, it belongs to the Pakraman Sibetan region.


The beginning of Pasar Agung Temple in Sibetan was built because of the war between of Klungkung and Karangasem kingdom. Then, it was won by Karangasem kingdom. Klungkung Kingdom felt ashamed to pray to Besakih Temple (Gunung Agung) finally, there was a temple which was built in Sibetan called Pasar Agung Temple.


Pasar Agung Temple’s name was taken from the temple site at the foot of Mount Agung. Ancient times many pastors wanted to climb Mount Agung and they must through the temple before the Pasar Agung Temple. They saw that temple as a temptation before climbing Mount Agung. If they could through it they will not get heavy obstacles and hindrances. Therefore, today, before the climbers want to climb Mount Agung, they should pray at Pasar Agung Temple in order they will be safe.
