Telaga Tista is located in abiantihing kelod village, Sibetan sub-district, Bebandem, Karangasem regency is a sacred pond where Ida Sang Hyang Widhi (God Almighty) stays and many people come for celebrating Siwaratri day in the evening and other feast days and are usually as a place for people in this area taking water from these springs for sacred ceremonies such as yadnya and other sacred ceremonies which associated with the ceremony in this area.
Earlier this lake is not the man-made lake but it is a sacred lake of God's creation, in the middle of the lake there is a temple is recognized by the people as one of the village temple in this area and that is why people believe that this place is sacred and no one can do all sorts in this place and make much less damaging “obscene” hence sanctity of this place, because it has a lot of tangible evidence of the events that happened in this place, as an example: there was a visitor had come to this place and he interested to fresh water then he wanted to swim in this lake, when it happened the weather was really hot but before he made his intention there was pemangku who tried to forbid the visitor to not swim because it is not a swimming pool but it was a holy pool of the gods and goddesses and pemangku had suggested to take a shower in the regular of the special place in the east of this lake.
Unfortunately, the visitor kept ignored the pemangku’s advice. Immediately, he was sucked in by the mighty forces of the supernatural basis of the lake, he struggled to reach the edge of the lake and screamed, and his friend wanted to help him. Unfortuneately, both of them drawn into the lake.
Then, the people come to this place and finally they discussed with the pengempon (care taker of temple) to take away the death bodies of two men by drying this lake or drain the water first and then their death bodies were lifted, finally, that pond reverted to the sacred. Therefore, this is the description of sacredness Telaga Tista for realizing the people in order that they do not make this place becomes obscene.
